Strategies Against Watery Eyes
Strategies Against Watery Eyes

Opening reception June 5, 2025, 6-8 pm

On June 5, 2025, the group exhibition Strategies Against Watery Eyes will open at LNM – an exhibition that explores performative strategies within painting. The exhibition will focus on how painting can be expanded through time, body, movement and materiality. The artists explore the boundaries between painting and performance, where the action – be it writing, dripping, walking, lowering or carrying – becomes an integral part of the work.

The curators of the exhibition are Randi Thommessen, CEO of LNM, and Annika Ström, a conceptual artist who works at the intersection of painting and performance.

The exhibition brings together artists from Norway and Sweden – A K Dolven, Vibeke Tandberg, Kjetil Berge, Johan Thurfjell, Henrik Håkansson, Sigmund Skard and Annika Ström – and opens two days before the 120th anniversary of the dissolution of the union. Thus, it also marks a historical event: the dissolution of the Swedish-Norwegian union in 1905, which occurred without shots being fired.
